I bought a poco X3 NFC 5 years ago. Still using it daily to full content. Only the battery is starting to not serve me a full day since I switched to super fast charging for a while again and after all those charge cycles that becomes a noticeable performance decrease. But that’s on literally any phone though. In that sense too, this poco outperforms lots of devices. It’s amazing. Was sub 200 euros when I bought it.
I’ve had an a15 for 6 months and it’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned….glitchy…slow…. Never again

i bought an s20 new outright, screen cracked stopped working in 6 months. meanwhile my motorola g power 2019 still works , never cracked the screen .i use a second hand s20 fe i got in 2024. its also cracked but at least it works.ill never spend more than 250 on a phone ever again.

When talking about the interest or willingness of customers to research tech, I think one thing you may have overlooked is that for a vast majority of people, what they are looking for is something that will cover their basic needs. If someone only has $200 – $300 to spend on a phone, they’re probably not going to spend dozens of hours looking up the latest and greatest that tech has to offer because within their own reality, that doesn’t exist.
It’s more like, "Can I send an e-mail, check my text messages, play a song on spotify and take a picture of my dog that’ll be good enough to show nana on facebook? Perfect."
I’ve got no qualms buying a $1000-$2000 piece of tech if I’m going to keep it for four to six years. But I switch up my phones annually to semi-annually because I have loved ones who lose their own phones on a regular basis and being able to give them a hand me down while jumping to the latest model that does the stuff I need allows me to help them. I end up wasting money on features that are useless to me, on a phone I’m going to inevitably give away, if I were to buy something more fancy.
